Welcome to the profit connections podcast. Our next episode is going to be a lot of fun. Well, maybe, maybe we'll do it later. I don't know. What do you think maybe we'll do this podcast later? Our guest today is shoe hung. Did I say that? Right? Yeah, beautiful, and she is an amazing leader and teacher and trainer, and I'm so pleased to have her here today, and I am not going to procrastinate in telling you about her. So hang on being powerless and stuck for 25 plus years in jobs that were soul sucking and an unhappy marriage ChewHoong created a soul thriving neuroscience informed accelerated Profit System, and she has an acronym for this, APS, after healing and training with 10 plus top leaders in self improvement and business, this unique system accelerates mission driven coaches from procrastination to empowering productive and profitable businesses. I am so pleased to have you here today to talk about the subject that I keep putting off procrastination.
ChewHoong Koh:Thank you very much, and I'm glad I'm able to support you procrastination in one of your favorite things you'd like your clients to do, which is in action, right?
Sharon Galluzzo:In action? Yes, nothing changes until you move. You must be in action. I love it. Yes, exactly, all right. So ChewHoong, I love saying your name. I'm gonna she told me to sing it before the interview, and I did. I will spare you that, and thank you for for being here with us today. So procrastination is something that flags very many people, even really efficient, people, can fall into procrastination, and a lot of times, what happens is we're procrastinating what we don't want to do. We're procrastinating what we do want to do. We don't know why we're procrastinating. Sometimes we do. It's a kind of a complex issue. So I'm really glad that you're here to help sort of demystify and break it down for us. So talk to us a little bit about the identity of procrastination.
ChewHoong Koh:Yeah, and I'm going to also start with this. I want now that everybody to answer a yes or no with this question. You know, do you find yourself with a to do list of three items or more. And do you find yourself, I call it strolling on social media, you're still doing with me, you know you gotta do to make sure you have a thriving business and ah, the more subtle one is, do you find yourself taking a little time, a little bit too long to have that conversation you need to have, with your colleague, with the family member. What did you answer? Yes, or any of this, you are procrastinator and here's the thing, does Americans psychological science study says that 25% of you will be chronic procrastinators. So there we go. And why is it important to pay attention to it? If you are a serious business owner, how much money are you leaving on the table every time you procrastinate? Think of your simple What's your billable hour? 200 an hour. So every minute, every time, there we go. Ka Ching. Ka Ching,
Sharon Galluzzo:That's a really good way to think about it, because I don't think that we recognize when we're procrastinating that it is also costing us money. You know, we've heard time is money and procrastination is eating into our time, right? So, yeah, I love that.
ChewHoong Koh:Yeah, yeah. And well, because of my learning, you hopefully you can read from that and about the identity of a lot of us. Careful what you say after the word I am. If you say I am a procrastinator, you basically say, Yeah, you're owning that. And so I'm inviting you to say that. Oh, yeah, I'm doing that procrastinating thing again for right now. Add the word for right now. Anything you don't want to have say for right now, because it's for right now. It's not forever.
Sharon Galluzzo:Oh, this is gold. Oh, everyone, she is dropping gold right now. I love this. Say that again, I'm doing that procrastination thing for right now.
ChewHoong Koh:Yes, for right now you can do for anything. Oh, I'm being perfectionistic for right now. Yeah. And even better, I invite you do one more thing. See of this person, give a name to it. Oh. Here comes Penelope. Procrastinate to visiting me. Okay, have a conversation. Because you know what? Sometimes the procrastination can be a good thing, and here's how it can be a good thing is that if you don't want to do something, you don't want to write an email, you don't want to do that, it's because on not just on a mind level, but on a soul level, you're not aligned with it. So we say business success is 20% success in how tos 80% is a psychology now, what is Psychology? For me? I'm inviting you to consider it's just not mindset. It's not just emotional, but it's also soul level and energetic levels.
Sharon Galluzzo:So what you're saying is that the conversation and to Penelope, procrastinator, is, you know, what's going on at a soul level? That's, you know, we might not be seeing
ChewHoong Koh:Right? I'll just say, hey, Penelope, you know, thanks first, thank you. No thanks for for checking in. You know what's happening here? And the one thing I always say is putting your hand in your heart, because it's a heart conversation, heartfelt conversation, and just be quiet. And you know, whatever comes up, invite yourself to be in what I call compassionate curiosity.
Sharon Galluzzo:I like that compassionate curiosity. So why is this happening and I'm still giving myself love while I'm examining what's going on, that might not be the thing that's serving me right now, correct?
ChewHoong Koh:Yeah. And even though we say that we're responsible of everything sometimes is you're responsible to have that conversation of reflection, but you're not responsible to own it.
Sharon Galluzzo:Oh, I like so you're responsible about the conversation, but you're not responsible to own it. So it doesn't have to be part of you. Yeah, if you have that conversation that's really, really interesting.
ChewHoong Koh:Because I want you to remind yourself that when you were born, you just beautiful soul, right? Was here to want to enjoy and for people love you and have a great time, and then life can get messy, right? Like every time one little thing happens to you, someone say something you as a little kid, especially, you take it on and say, What did I do wrong? Yes, absolutely. And then, before you know, it, suddenly become that, that limited belief right and called the hidden blind spots and your unconscious mind, one of his prime goal is to protect you. And if your pattern is to procrastinate or whatever, it will say, Okay, it's helping you. It's keeping you. Survival, right? Those they keep doing it, yes.
Sharon Galluzzo:yeah, yeah, that's good. So the for now, piece the recognizing it, don't own it, and for now and then. What else can we do with regard to procrastination?
ChewHoong Koh:You can then to find a hidden blind spot is hidden, and because of where your perception is that your limited belief limited. You know that all that it's hard for you to see right, and your subconscious mind is not going to make it because it wants to keep you in a place of of ease. It doesn't want you in pain, right? And so I would say, if it's a pattern, I would invite you to really invest in yourself. It is quite like extreme self care, and I'll work with a coach or work with someone.
Sharon Galluzzo:So what you're saying is, if you recognize that it's happening, not just sometimes, but there's a pattern that every time, like every time I'm stressed out I eat, there's a procrastination pattern as well. Can you talk a little bit about how to recognize that pattern,
ChewHoong Koh:yeah, for example, like, here's an action, right? We always like business, what are you doing? So let's say that you're supposed to reach out and to three people a day. That's what you say you're gonna do, and even put it on a calendar, and then you keep finding reasons for for not doing right? You got to say, Oh, this happens, that happened. But after a while, it's like, are you having a hobby, or is this a business, right? Who are you? You're the CEO of the company. If you are, what are the qualities of leadership around that?
Sharon Galluzzo:So might you say that, if you are saying that you want to do something in your business, or have this business, and yet you see a pattern of procrastination, even when you're doing the things that people tell you to do, write it on your calendar, schedule it, and you keep seeing that you're pushing that away. Is there something that is, I'm gonna say, out of alignment, like there's some. Thing off, yeah, and that it, and that's maybe what's causing the procrastination. Could that be something?
ChewHoong Koh:Yes, and it's always related to something. So I'm gonna give you this phrase. You know, this is time. Take note of write it down. You put your hand in your heart, close your eyes, take a deep breath and just say, hmm. Even though I don't know what's causing this pattern. If I were to know it would be and then see what pops up.
Sharon Galluzzo:So for people who don't do a lot of this work, what if I hear nothing and what if I hear something really random and crazy,
ChewHoong Koh:yeah, again, be curious, huh? Why is that coming up?
Sharon Galluzzo:And when you say coming up, it's an idea that comes to your mind. It's a phrase. It's a some people will hear things. Some people will just think things. Some people will feel things, information that's you know, if people are not in tune with their bodies and doing this kind of thing, what's a really good trick or advice that you can give to to really get in that place, to hear or feel or see, yeah, and
ChewHoong Koh:I was like that too, you know, kind of analytical, And I'll say, Okay, it's how the how tos right? And after a while, it did not serve me. It's only when I opened myself to invite myself to really connect the emotional piece, to understand that, wow, you know the intuitive piece, that's the part that means you got to cultivate. You'll get better and better. And when I did that now, I'm like, Oh, I actually can hear things that before I would say, Oh, I wish I could.
Sharon Galluzzo:So do you think that everyone has intuition? Oh, totally.
ChewHoong Koh:It's just sixth sense, right? You're born. You have it.
Sharon Galluzzo:And, yeah, if someone has never, okay, give me an example of proof that everyone has intuition, even if they don't think they do.
ChewHoong Koh:Well, people call it gut, right? Yeah, that's one thing. Oh, sometimes you get, you know, when you go into a you meet someone, and you suddenly, I want to get away from that person. Oh, how that person has such amazing, yummy, delicious. And I just want to be around that person.
Sharon Galluzzo:Ah, this is perfect. Because I think that people, this happens, you know, you know things without knowing how you know them. Yeah, and that is, that is intuition. And I think that, especially in here in America as children, that voice, that little feeling that whatever is sort of, at least for me, was sort of, I was told not to, like, listen to it, you know, like, I don't know how to say that in the right way, but that wasn't something that was honed and recognized. It was like, Mom, you know, I don't want to, I don't want to hug grandpa. He smells funny. No, you have to hug grandpa. He loves you. You need to hug grandpa. And so as children, we start going, Oh, well, then I just need to ignore that. And those kinds of things are, are things that we natural, I guess, because of the people around us and the things that are happening, that that voice kind of goes away, that feeling that knowing not completely, we just faith, we just cease to recognize it. And so what you're talking about is really important to help people reconnect with that part of themselves that knows what we need to know, yeah and yeah.
ChewHoong Koh:And the phrase I gave to you is so it's something to consider using, and the more you use it, and if nothing comes up, you just say, okay, not right now, say thank you, and just let go and just keep playing with it. I call it. You gotta go into that play, you know. Yeah, yeah.
Sharon Galluzzo:Yeah, play, play. Lady talked about this on other podcasts. Play is so important. Play is important for every part of your life. And so, yes, I love this playing with your intuition as well.
ChewHoong Koh:Yes, yeah, just try it on right and then say, okay, it's not, not for right now. Okay, I'll check about it again. Yeah, and this, wonderful people like you, you know, available, accessible, to have a conversation with, right to see what it is. If you're serious, it's again. I call it the three. C's get clarity. Oh, I'm procrastinating, right? Don't stop there. Get clarity. What are you procrastinating on? Those I'm disorganized. Okay, well, that's like, that's can be overwhelming. So for right now, what's the biggest challenge around being disorganized? Right? I'm disorganized about about my taxes. Oh, okay, well, what do you gain by not doing it? What will happen if you do it? Well, you get money back. We do that money right, finish the thought, and it might get you a place where you suddenly get into emotionally more hopeful place or optimistic place, yeah,
Sharon Galluzzo:and that even feels like play the way you did it, that was playing, you were playing. I think play is a part of who you are. I see play in everything that you say and do, it's really great to be around someone who gets that and you can feel that. Thank you. All can hear and see that as well.
ChewHoong Koh:One of the thing I reclaim back on the side note is my inner child,
Sharon Galluzzo:ah, and that would explain it,
ChewHoong Koh:yeah, this is who I really am, Moon.
Sharon Galluzzo:Oh, wow, that is beautiful. So beautiful, awesome. Well, ChewHoong, I'm gonna say that every time you have a gift for our audience, do you not can you just tell us about that?
